DIY Project #2

As promised, I will be revealing my second project today. But first, I want to give an update to yesterday's post. It turns out that the Indoor Flea Market, where I found the furniture for these 2 projects, is closed by the time I get out of work. So, I have to make a decision. Do I wait til Saturday to get the pieces? Or do I call them, purchase the pieces over the phone and have them hold the furniture for me til Saturday? I'll have to think on this for a bit this morning.

Ok, now that the update is out of the way, my plan for project #2! Once again, here is a photo of the piece. As you can see, this is a chest that does not have any of the drawers.

Now for the Inspiration photo!

I found this project on apartmenttherapy.com. As with all my inspiration photos, just click on it and you will be taken to the original site! As I stated, my piece does not have any drawers, so I have to decide whether I want to add drawers or use the space for shelving. I'm thinking we'll be making drawers for this project! Also, my piece's top has beautiful curves so instead of replacing it with a butcher block, I think I'll just strip the old paint off and stain it! But you'll have to check back to see what I have done!

DIY Project #1

After much debating and searching for furniture to upcycle, I have finally decided on my very first project! I'm so excited about this one! I found this Nightstand at a local Indoor Flea Market for an unbelievable deal! Heading there right after work to pick it up. What do you think of it? It needs some love that's for sure!

Want to see what I have in mind for it? I found this great project originally on pinterest. You can click on the pic to take you to blog.spoonflower.com for a full step by step guide.

Of course, my nightstand is different from this one so it won't look exactly the same! And that's what I like! Check back for my completed project within the next 2 weekends! By the way, I also found this at the same Indoor Flea Market, check back tomorrow for when I reveal what Project #2 will be!

DIY Shutter Plate Rack

I fell in love with this project! I adore old shutters and you can find them just about anywhere. I also need a plate rack (I'm a teacup and saucer collector) without spending much money. This project was found at  http://laurieannas.blogspot.com/. Step by step instructions can be found there. You can also click on the pic to take you there! Thank you LaurieAnna for coming up with this wonderful DIY project! What do you think? I know this style isn't for everyone, but I feel it's the perfect blend of shabby and chic. Especially if you plan to place beautiful china on it.

I hope you enjoy making this one as much as I will! And of course, once it is completed I'll post some pics of my version!
